從前有一只小兔子，很想要離家出走。于是他對媽媽說：“I am running away.” （我要逃走啦！）“If you run away,” said his mother, “I will run after you. For you are my little bunny.” （“如果你逃走的話，我就去追你。因為你是我的小寶貝呀。”）“If you run after me,” said the little bunny, “I will become a fish in a trout stream and I will swim away from you.” （“如果你跟著我的話，”小兔子說，“我會變成一只溪里的小鱒魚游得遠遠的。”）“If you become a fish in a trout stream,” said his mother, “I will become a fisherman and I will fish for you.” （“如果你變成一只溪里的小鱒魚，”他的媽媽說，“我就變成一個捕魚的人去抓你。”）“If you become a fisherman,” said the little bunny, “I will become a rock on the mountain, high above you.” （“如果你變成一個捕魚的人，”小兔子說，“我就變成高山上的一塊巖石，你抓不到我。”）“If you become a rock on the mountain high above me,” said his mother, “I will be a mountain climber, and I will climb to where you are.” （“如果你變成高山上的巖石，” 他的媽媽說，“我就變成爬山的人，爬到高山上去找你。”）“If you become a mountain climber,” said the little bunny, “I will be a crocus in a hidden garden.” （“如果你變成一個爬山的人，”小兔子說，“我就變成小花，藏在花園里.”）“If you become a crocus in a hidden garden,” said his mother, “I will be a gardener.
