The growth process of silkworm babies can be described as follows. In the early spring, a batch of silkworm babies arrived. At first, they were just a few small black dots, a bit larger than sesame seeds, motionless on the green mulberry leaves. These dots constantly devoured the leaves and grew rapidly. Their black outer covering gradually lightened as they underwent their first molt, similar to a newborn baby entering the infancy stage. After two more molts, their body color turned white, and the body hair退化. The third molt saw a small thorn-like protrusion on their tails, and their bodies became transparent, revealing the silk tubes inside. Before each molt, they would stop eating for a period, stretch their heads upward, and excrete frequently. To provide a comfortable living environment, special care was taken to make single compartments for them. With meticulous care, the silkworm babies went through the fourth molt and turned into plump silkworm girls. They demanded an increasing amount of mulberry leaves.
